This is a beautiful, one of a kind mug. The piece starts out on the wheel where I throw a cylinder and then attach a handle. After the Clay firms up a bit, I carve the mug and then clean up the carvings before it is fired for the first time. After the piece comes out from the firing, i wash it in some water to ensure no dust is left behind. Then I sign the bottom and then choose a color palette. Each one of the carvings is painted 3 times individually with a small paintbrush to ensure I have the correct opacity and colors I want. After doing some touchups and signing the bottom of the mug, I paint wax on the bottom to ensure no glaze sticks on the shelf in the kiln. I mix up the glaze and then dip the piece in to the glossy clear glaze. After the glaze is dry, I go back and sand down any drips from the glaze before cleaning up the bottom one last time, and then loading the mug into the kiln to be fired a second time. This piece is Microwave and dishwasher safe and made with lots of love and care. This mug holds approximately 14 fluid ounces and 16 fluid ounces to the brim.
